CSP Ayo Elijah of the ManCenter police division recently exemplified remarkable integrity by refusing a bribe of Twenty Million Naira (NGN 20 Million) intended to conceal a criminal case, showcasing the presence of honest and dedicated police officers within the Nigeria Police Force.




Nigeria is home to police officers of commendable integrity and honesty. Indeed, not all officers are corrupt, as reported by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP). A notable instance is the District Police Officer (DPO) of the ManCenter police division, CSP Ayo Elijah, who recently exemplified integrity by refusing a bribe of Twenty Million Naira (NGN 20 Million) intended to conceal a criminal case. This incident highlights the presence of dedicated officers within the Nigeria Police Force who are diligently working to ensure the safety and security of our communities. Following intelligence from a taxi driver regarding a young woman being held captive in an Ikeja hotel, CSP Ayo Elijah took the initiative to lead his team to Definite Destiny Hotel in Balogun, Ikeja. There, they discovered the woman bound with heavy chains and her mouth sealed, having been subjected to repeated assaults by two men who may have killed her had it not been for the prompt action of the DPO. The woman had been transported from Murtala Mohammed International Airport to the hotel by the taxi driver. Sensing her peril, she sent an SOS message to the driver, who quickly alerted the police. The suspects, realizing their predicament, attempted to bribe CSP Ayo Elijah with a substantial sum, suggesting an immediate transfer if he cooperated. Upholding the ethical standards of his profession, CSP Ayo Elijah, who received the esteemed Trek Africa Best DPO of the Year award in December 2024 and was recently recognized as The Pride Newspaper's Most Outstanding DPO of the Year, firmly rejected the lucrative offer. It is anticipated that CSP Ayo Elijah will continue to exemplify integrity, honesty, and high standards throughout his policing career.
