Edo Governor Promises Complete Compensation to Families of Uromi Massacre Victims

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has promised the families of the 16 hunters who lost their lives in Uromi that he will ensure they receive full compensation for their tragic loss.

During a condolence visit to Torankawa in the Bunkure Local Government Area, Governor Okpebholo was joined by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other prominent officials. He reiterated his commitment to assist the grieving families with financial aid and food supplies.

Expressing his outrage over the senseless killings, Okpebholo declared in the village that those responsible for these brutal acts would face justice.

“We will make certain that justice is served for this atrocious crime,” he affirmed.

In a related development, hundreds of family members and supporters organized a peaceful protest, carrying signs with messages such as “We demand justice for the killings of our people,” “Hunters are not criminals,” and “We seek swift justice in this case.”

The protesters filled the road leading to Torankawa village, articulating their demands. Numerous hunters, equipped with their hunting gear, participated in the demonstration.

Additionally, some placards displayed messages like “Killings in the North must stop,” “Northerners are peace-loving citizens,” and “Justice must prevail.”

A number of hunters, visibly upset, chanted war songs and displayed their weapons as the governor’s convoy passed by, while local residents worked to maintain order during the protest.
