Mob Sets Over 10 People Ablaze After Being Found With Guns In Edo
At least ten individuals lost their lives to mob justice in Edo State while traveling along a road in the Uromi Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that the hunters, who were mistakenly believed to be kidnappers, were en route from River State to Kano State when they were confronted by a mob.
According to eyewitness accounts, the hunters were halted by vigilantes during a routine stop and search. During this process, weapons, including guns and machetes, as well as a dog and other personal items, were discovered.
Tensions escalated when local residents accused the hunters of kidnapping. The mob then attacked the suspects and set them on fire.
The situation spiraled out of control, resulting in the suspects being burned beyond recognition.
Security personnel arrived at the scene afterward, but it was too late to intervene and save any of the suspects from the enraged mob.
The bodies of the deceased have been removed from the site, and an investigation has been initiated.
