Individual Claims Police Transformed His Stolen Vehicle into a Patrol Car in Delta
A man has accused the Delta State Police Command of repurposing his stolen vehicle as a police car.
In a recently circulated video, the individual, named Ogoro Miffy, shared the story of how his car was taken while he attended a church event in 2015.
Upon realizing his vehicle was missing, he reported the incident at the Ekpan Division Police Station.
“They told me to print a report for the stolen vehicle. I even distributed copies to them,” he recounted in pidgin.
He expressed his astonishment when, two years later in 2017, he discovered his car being utilized by the police at the Ekpan Division.
“I found my car with the police in Ekpan Division. They had appropriated my vehicle for their own use,” he stated, showing a photo of the car adorned with police insignia.
Miffy also mentioned that after pursuing the matter in court, the High Court ruled in his favor on July 19, 2018, ordering the police to compensate him with N10 million. However, the police subsequently appealed the decision.
“Is it their right to use my car? Because I lack support, they are taking advantage of me. I relied on that vehicle to sustain my life, but now I am struggling. Please help me,” he implored in the video.
In response to these allegations, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Edafe Bright, stated, “The events from 2015 to 2017 occurred a long time ago. According to my findings, the vehicle in question is not at the Ekpan Police Station.”
Edafe also provided a contact number for the complainant to reach out for assistance in the investigation.
