Site Engineer Fatally Attacked by Workers in Delta Over Possession of Substantial Cash.

The police in Delta State have initiated an investigation following the murder of a site engineer named Chigozie Udalor, allegedly at the hands of his employees after they discovered he possessed a significant amount of money in his bank account.

According to a statement from the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, on December 12, 2024, a report was made by Hyacinth Nnalue at the Akwu-kwu Igbo division, indicating that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since December 10, 2024. Nnalue noted that Chigozie served as the site manager for his fish pond located in the Bod camp of the Akwukwu Igbo community.

Edafe stated that upon receiving this report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) launched an investigation and subsequently referred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed DPO Ekpan CSP Aliyu Shaba to conduct a thorough investigation. The DPO assigned operatives to carry out an intelligence-driven inquiry, which led to the arrest of one David Tacho on March 31, 2025, who attempted to withdraw funds from the victim's account using his phone. Additionally, Daniel Orshio was apprehended for his involvement in the murder.

The investigation further uncovered that David Tacho is the brother of Victor Tacho, who, along with Pius Daniel (both currently at large), conspired with Daniel Orshio to kill the victim. Currently, two suspects are in custody, while Pius Daniel and Victor Tacho remain fugitives. Preliminary findings indicated that all four suspects were employed by the deceased, who was the site engineer. They conspired to attack him with a hammer, bound him, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site after discovering his Moniepoint account balance. The body of the deceased has been exhumed and is awaiting an autopsy, while efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing, as stated by Edafe.
